One half of the spot, that's the side of Akyaka, then in the middle is a parking lot and next few kite schools, toilet and a restaurant, that is rather a fast food.

Second episode from Akyaka was supposed to be more about kiteboarding. We spent 2-4h each day on the water and basically whole days at the spot. "Pole pole" means 'slow slow' and we kinda got used to that way of living. Walking to the spot was always an opportunity to shot some photos but when there, there was never enough time to take pictures and film while kiting. Some kind of a GoPro camera would be great, now we know it.


As it comes to animals, there were supposed to be turtles and blue crabs, everybody saw them, beside us. That's all we saw from a crab.

Meet Osman, owners of the Okaliptus Apartments kitten. He used to look for him every evening, walking around and saying "Where is my cat? Did You see my Cat? Where is my cat?"

The day "Crazy Mehmet" came. That's when N wind blows through the mountains surrounding Gokova Bay. If it's strong enough there is basically a desert storm at the spot. Gusts 10-30 knots in few seconds, easy to get lofted. We decided not to take a risk, stayed and watched when some crazy guys, including Orange Kiteboarding staff, rode that crazy wind! Keep on smiling.

Normally the wind is thermal and not that strong, so mega loops and big air happens during "Crazy Mehmet".

After that chicken... and that's Turkish way of serving fajitas.

When you are there, you have to taste all of the Turkish meals and desserts. It's so tasty. Watch out though when ordering something that sounds European.. instead of it can easily get a Turkish version of a European meal.. for instance a chocolate milkshake is a chocolate milk actually.

There's almost no bugs and spiders, some flies and almost no mosquitoes. Over those two weeks we've seen that and 2 spiders.

There should be a title.. "so, so romantic".

Crystal clear water in the river, crystal clear and icy cold.

I would not recommend walking with your quiver to the spot for the first time. It's better to get in touch with someone from the kite base you're going to be changing out or storing your equipment, I''m 100% sure they will help you get it to the spot. A walk to the spot is 15-20 minutes long, you go cross a little bridge, through some bushes, then along the shore, then across the water (ankle - knee - waist deep) for 50 - 100 meters, depends what route you take and then again along the shore. It's nice taking a walk there every day, carrying your quiver with you, even once, is a challenge. Way back, we got a ride with Umut, one of the Orange instructors. Thanks man!!

After wind stops, around 6 pm, sometimes later, chill. Musicians.

When we chilled at the kite base and the wind dropped in the evenings, another team took over the beach. Para-gliders. Launch and land and steering training.

That was a amazing time. When you get used to pole pole, Akyaka the slow city, you start to fall in love with that place. That's why the say "you will come back, everybody does.".
